Mikalia M. Kott is an associate with HH&K. Ms. Kott graduated from Louisiana State University in 2000 where she received her Bachlor of Science in Geography and minored in English and History. At LSU, Ms. Kott was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Golden Key National Honor Societies. After graduation, she traveled internationally and served with Ameri*Corps VISTA as a Volunteer Coordinator for Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West.
Ms. Kott attended the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law on a scholarship and received her J.D. in 2005. She was a member of the Moot Court Board and was a semi-finalist in ATLA National Mock Trial Competition.
After law school, Ms. Kott clerked for the Hon. Herbert L. Stern, III, in Denver District Court. Ms. Kott prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases as a Deputy District Attorney in Denver District Attorney’s office where she received The People Are Ready Award for bringing the greatest number of misdemeanor cases to trial.
Since returning to New Orleans in 2008, Ms. Kott has represented plaintiffs in the New Orleans area in a variety of personal injury cases. Ms. Kott joined HH&K in 2010, and works for clients in numerous Multi-District Litigations, and individual injury cases.
