broken cigaretteThe Louisiana Smoking Cessation Trust will celebrate its 100,000 member milestone on April 15, 2019 at the New Orleans City Hall.  The Smoking Cessation Trust provides smoking cessation services to all Louisiana residents who smoked prior to September 1, 1988.  Approved members can receive free approved doctor visits, medication to help with smoking cessation, nicotine replacements and cessation counseling.

The creation of the Smoking Cessation Trust was a result of the landmark case: Scott v. America Tobacco Co.  Herman, Herman & Katz partners Russ Herman and Steve Herman played lead roles on the “Scott” team of trial attorneys and in securing this beneficial assistance for Louisiana smokers.

The celebration will include several speakers including Mayor LaToya Cantrell; Mike Rogers, CEO, Smoking Cessation Trust Management Services, Inc.; and Dominic Gianna, attorney, Aaron & Gianna (Scott Class).  The Cessation Trust will also be registering new members who may be eligible for the program and providing information to all smokers about area cessation clinics.  The event begins at 12:30 pm.
