Brian Katz, partner at Herman, Herman & Katz, L.L.C., has been honored by the United Way of Southeast Louisiana with membership into their philanthropic leadership group, the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of Southeast Louisiana. As a member of this select group of individuals who have “devoted time, talent and funds to create long-lasting changes” in the community, Mr. Katz is recognized for his generosity, engagement and stewardship.
The United Way Tocqueville Society was formed in 1984 to deepen individual support of United Way’s mission of advancing the common good by creating opportunities for a better life for all. It was created to acknowledge and honor those individuals whose leadership and commitment to the common good have been uncommon in its generosity. Three elements that Alexis de Tocqueville admired in American society were liberty, equality and the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor; Tocqueville believed that by achieving these elements of democracy, all people would choose to pursue freedom, knowledge and prosperity.
