He has earned a multitude of awards and accolades; his most recent honor was awarded to him on November 19, 2014, when the National Association of Distinguished Counsel selected Mr. Herman as a Founding Member of the Nation’s Top Attorneys. Also, in 2014, the International Global Law Experts recognized him as the Personal Injury Attorney of the Year in Louisiana, City Business Leaders in Law presented Mr. Herman with a Lifetime Achievement Award, and the New Orleans Bar Association selected Mr. Herman for the President’s Award. Since 1983, he has consecutively been featured among the Best Lawyers in America in the areas of personal injury, maritime, complex litigation and appellate practice.

An outstanding success within the field, Mr. Herman is the second-generation family member to achieve professional success as an attorney. He received an L.L.B., which is now called a JD, from the Tulane University School of Law in 1966. He was inducted into the inaugural Tulane Law School Hall of Fame in 2013. He has recently been inducted into the Worldwide Registry for his many achievements and is a fellow of IATL, the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, as well as ABOTA, the American Board of Trial Advocates. HHK is listed in the National Law Journal’s Top 50 Elite law firms in the U.S. and Mr. Herman has been listed as the National Law Journal’s Lawyer of the Year.

Mr. Herman is a Past President of the American Association of Justice, where he received the Champion of Justice Award, and the Louisiana Association of Justice. He is also a Past President of the Pound Foundation and the Civil Justice Foundation. He is a Diplomate to the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and fellow of the National College of Advocacy. He is a Fellow to the International Society of Barristers and the American College of Barristers. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Federal Fifth Circuit Bar Association. Mr. Herman was inducted into the National Trial Lawyers Hall of Fame at Temple University and he has been named one of the Top Ten Lawyers in Louisiana for every year the award has been given. Mr. Herman has been the recipient of a number of other awards and distinctions, and has also authored more than 200 publications.

An extremely dynamic member of the nonprofit community, Mr. Herman is also a sponsor and supporter of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, and the performing arts including the New Orleans Ballet Association, the Jefferson Performing Arts Society and the New Orleans Opera. He is a sustaining member and supporter of the Louisiana Center for Women in Government and Business and was named a People’s Health Champion. Mr. Herman is a courtroom advocate who enjoys representing individuals and businesses who have been injured or damaged by intentional and negligent conduct.
