Appellate lawyers specialize in every aspect of appeals. They review all records of the lower court, including material evidence, transcripts, and witness statements. Appellate lawyers use their skills to analyze and apply the laws relevant to the case to determine if any mistakes were made based on the law (ex, the law was applied incorrectly). After they review, research, and analyze the legal matter, appellate lawyers create written briefs to be presented to the judges in appellate court. Sometimes, they also deliver oral arguments and answer questions from the judges, but most appeals cases are decided on written briefs only.
